I'm not suprised. The new road lay out is dangerous! It's gone from outside lane filtering in to the middle lane to the inside lane filtering in to the middle lane.

Whoever thought of this layout must had been drunk at the time. It is sheer madness. What is the purpose is there to it? You go from the outside lane into the middle lane to go through the tunnel and most of the time you have to force your way into the middle lane because no one wants to give way to you. Lucky this time no one was killed.

While the layout may be far from ideal, there's also some pi55 poor driving in both directions on the elevated stretch. Though north bound, funnelling from 3 lanes into 2 while people also slow down for the tunnel is something of a recipe for disaster

The accident was northbound just after the sun in sands roundabout. Not the Blackwall tunnel

i think the new layout is better it reduces delays. The layout is created to stop overheight vehicles trying to enter the tunnel by using the lights and barrier on just the inside lane where as the old layout meant stopping all traffic. Initially i was concerned but i travel through there several time a day and have never had problems merging lanes and no reported accidents yet

The new layout serves no purpose whatsoever! It does not help stop over height vehicles at all, it filters traffic out of the lane and then back into it. It makes no sense at all! I bet any money that come the Olympics this new lane is used to filter the "VIP" cars into the tunnel and that is the real reason its been put in place.
