A MAN accused of murdering a millionaire TV channel owner giggled on the phone to the victim's sister shortly after the killing, a court heard.

Gagandip Singh, aged 21, of Langdale Crescent, Bexleyheath, died on February 26.

His body was found in the boot of a blue Mercedes C-class in Angerstein Lane, Blackheath, at around 2am after the vehicle had been set alight.

Mundill Mahil from Chatham, Harinder Singh Shoker (referred to as Ravi), of Charlton Park Lane, Charlton, and Darren Peters, of Shooters Hill Road, Blackheath, all aged 20, deny his murder.

Today the Old Bailey heard from Mr Singh's sister Amandip Singh, who loaned him her car so he could visit medical student Mahil at her home in Brighton.

When he did not come home she became concerned and called around to see if anyone knew anything.

Knowing that Ravi and her brother had once been close friends, Miss Singh called him to see if he had Mahil's number.

Prosecutor Aftab Jafferjee asked Miss Singh: "When you said that he hasn't come home, what was Ravi's attitude and response?"

She replied: "It seemed a joke, he was laughing and giggling on the phone."

In cross-examination, Sallie Bennett-Jenkins, who is representing Ravi, asked Miss Singh if he was being hysterical on the phone.

Miss Singh said: "It was more like sarcasm."

Yesterday Mahil was accused of luring Mr Singh to her home in Brighton on February 25, hours before his body was found.

Lying in wait at the house were the other two defendants, Ravi and Peters, the court heard.

It was alleged the pair beat Mr Singh up before stuffing him into the boot of his sister's car and driving him to Blackheath.

They are then said to have poured petrol over the vehicle and set it alight.

The trial continues.
