X FACTOR winner Joe McElderry will be taking to the stage at The O2 this Christmas when he introduces ballet The Nutcracker.

The singer, who won the TV talent contest in 2009, will perform a selection of festive songs prior to the curtain rising on the show.

Performed by the Birmingham Royal Ballet, Tchaikovsky's festive classic will run for six performances at the Greenwich venue, from December 27 to December 30.

It is only the second time a ballet has been performed at the world famous arena and follows the success of the Royal Ballet's production of Romeo and Juliet earlier this year.

“I’m thrilled that I’ve been given the opportunity to perform at The O2,” said McElderry.

“The Nutcracker is a magical ballet and it will be a great honour to introduce it in front of an expectant arena.”

Tickets start from £10 and children under-16 go for half price. To book, call 0844 856 0202 or visit theo2.co.uk
