A MAN has been stabbed during a robbery at a pizza shop in Welling.

Domino’s Pizza in Upper Wickham Lane was cordoned off by police shortly after 11.50am after reports of a robbery and a 30-year-old man was taken to hospital by ambulance with stab wounds to his arm.

Nearby shop owners said they were surprised when emergency vehicles swarmed the area.

Christine Lander, 54, who runs Bulldog Leisurewear in Upper Wickham Lane with her husband Malcolm, said: “The first I knew about it was the sirens going off. That’s why I reckon they went in round the back.

“There were a lot of police cars, unmarked police cars and ambulances.”

Mr Lander, also 54, said: “It was only a couple of weeks ago people tried to raid Barclays Bank in the High Street. The first we knew of that was when the police turned up.”
