LONDONERS say getting hitched is more important than having children, a survey claims.

When asked to rank 10 different life changing decisions in order of importance, the decision to get married was considered the most important.

London residents also thought choosing between a dog and a cat as a pet was the third most important decision in life, beating whether or not to take a particular job offer and whether to go to university.

The survey, commissioned by solicitors Russell Jones & Walker, was conducted to show how people make important decisions and to raise awareness of the problems brain injury victims have doing the same thing.

It is part of a campaign backed by medical support charity Headway and Olympic athlete James Cracknell, who sustained a traumatic brain injury in July 2010.
