A TEDDY bears' picnic has helped bring families together.

Gravesend-based charity Home-Start organised a picnic for parents and children in Central Park.

More than 40 children took their furry friends along to enjoy sandwiches and party games in the park, in Market Street, Dartford.

The organisation provides volunteers to support families who are struggling to cope with young children.

Volunteers and charity organisers got to join in with the party and make sure the toys were on their best behaviour.

The September 14 event was the second teddy bears picnic which Home-Start has held this year.

Senior co-ordinator Debbie Bowler says the event is a nice way for families who use the service to meet.

She said: "The day was a good way for people to see there are other parents in the same boat."
