Sainsbury’s in Eltham turned purple to support their charity for a year, the Freddie Farmer Foundation, on August 13-14.
The store on Philipot Path celebrated the start of their charity partnership by holding a special purple-themed fund-raiser.
“It was all about raising awareness of the foundation but our customers were also very generous with their donations,” said human resources manager Marissa Arnold.
“Freddie was there to hand out leaflets with his mum on Saturday and granddad on Sunday.”
Some staff came in on their day off, bringing their own children, and shoppers received purple cupcakes for their donations.
“It was a great weekend and people were very supportive,” said mum Deanne Farmer. “The store raised £420.38 for the foundation which is a fantastic achievement. We’re really pleased.”
The Freddie Farmer Foundation, situated in Eltham, SE London has been running since February this year and is aiming to raise £250,000 to set up a specialised physiotherapy centre in SE London for children and young people with cerebral palsy and serious mobility problems. Freddie Farmer, just turned seven, has been the inspiration behind it.
