POLICE are appealing for information follwing a series of gold chain thefts.

The first one occurred on August 5 at around 2pm when a 53-year-old man was walking down Old Bromley Road, Downham, towards some shops and was approached by two men.

They asked him for the time and, as the victim looked at his watch, one of them grabbed the gold chain around his neck. Following a struggle, the men fled the scene.

There have been two further incidents one on the same day and another on August 11. In each case the victims’ gold chains were snatched and they were approached by the suspects who asked for the time.

The suspects are described as either two black men or one black man and one white man. They are in their late teens or early 20s.

One of the black men is 6ft in height, with slim build and short afro hair. The white man is 5ft 10in, of slim build, with short brown hair and freckles.

The other black man has been described as 5ft 8in.
