POLICE are appealing for witnesses to a fire that caused more than £300,000 worth of damage to a building in Crayford.

On August 9 at around 11.30pm, Met police officers came across the fire that started in a construction site between Green Place and Waterside.

It was behind the Princess Garden Restaurant in Crayford High Street.

Police believe the fire was started at around 11pm.

The Fire Brigade was called, and local residents were evacuated as a precaution. Six engines and about 30 fire fighters got the fire under control just before 2 am on August 10. No one was injured.
