CHILDREN from 10 primary schools have attended a two-week summer school.

The scheme, run by Bromley Council, helped prepare the youngsters for secondary school.

Schools which took part included St Paul's Cray in Buttermere Road and Orpington and Hillside Primary School, Dyke Drive, Orpington.

The programme allowed 100 children to mix and make friends at The Priory Secondary School, Tintagel Road, Orpington, before meeting again at their new schools.

Activities included drama-based workshops, arts and cooking.

Police officers also spoke to the children about keeping safe on their new journeys.

Ernest Noad, Bromley Council's executive councillor for children and young people, said: "The transfer from primary to secondary school can be difficult for some children and this project helps those children to feel more confident and prepared."
