RESIDENTS in Woolwich have organised a meeting to discuss rioting that has devastated much of the area.

Spokesmen from Greenwich police and Greenwich Council have also been invited.

The purpose of the meeting is to hear from the police on what happened last Monday night (August 8) and to ask what actions will be taken next.

Residents would also like to hear details from the council on building damage and the repair of the town centre.

Ideas will be put across to the council and police regarding CCTV images of looters including an idea to broadcast them on the screen in General Gordon Square.

Organisers of the meeting are calling for a joint effort from the police, council and residents to ensure the riots do not reoccur.

The meeting will take place at the Woolwich message wall, outside the Great Harry pub on Wellington Street at 7pm tomorrow. For more information visit facebook.com/woolwichonline
