A NEW owner has taken over a shop which was banned from selling alcohol after supplying booze outside of permitted hours.

BK Supermarkets has bought Beckenham Convenience Store in High Street after the previous owner had his licence suspended for three months.

A Bromley Council spokeswoman said the new owner “will now have to meet a number of stringent conditions” and “undergo a month’s suspension of the premises licence”.

The council suspended the licence of the previous owner, Mohamed Rashid, last month after discovering he had sold alcohol after 11pm, which was not permitted.

Rashid, from Golders Green, was fined £1,700 at Bromley Magistrates’ Court on July 25 after pleading guilty to selling alcohol outside the hours permitted by his licence.
