VIDEO: Police contain crowds 'reclaiming' Eltham town centre (From News Shopper)

Seems even the News Shopper & Eltham MP Clive Efford can turn a positive into a negative, I was at Eltham tonight and there was large good natured crowd, as for the kettling, it only because having a go at the police was not consider acceptable with crowd, so the police got away with it, as for some off the rubbish being written on Twitter by people who were not there, I'm sure you can tell what rubbish is being made up.
I'm a Millwall fan but never attended a EDL or BNP rally but went because I think people should fight back when the police do nothing (I saw the looting in Charlton and watched the police drive past in numbers and do nothing)
Looters did not turn up, Eltham was safe - job done.

That's right .... because they weren't sitting in a pub all day organising like minded morons to join them in drinking until they could be bothered to go looking for a fight.

Therein lies the problem: we have gone totally OTT with political correctness. White people and the police can't lift their little finger to defend their communities without being called racist. And whole communities get labelled racist because of a few thugs, most of them not local anyway. It's such a shame that an exceptionally strong community (by London's standards) is portrayed in the wrong light while it should be held as an example for the rest of the country.

its madness people want to stand up to these scum bags and get told they can't, how on earth are we meant to protect what we have worked hard for. the police are unable to do anything because these scum have "human rights", the politicians do nothing, what difference does david cameron make coming back from holiday, no use whatsoever, they keep threatening about using the army, don't threaten just do it. we are the only country that would tolerate such nonsense. Stop the culprits dole money (i don't believe for one minute any of them have jobs) and that way pay back the people that have lost their livelihoods. its ok for this lot to go back home to their council house paid for by us, some people don't have a home left, aaagh it makes me boil

I went on twitter for the first time last night. and it seemed to me that most of the scaremongering was from young black people (mostly women)
I couldn't believe what I was reading more of less all of them mentioned NF, EDL, racist marchers coming to Lewisham, none of them were in Eltham (from what it would seem) yet the rumours flew thick & fast.
I logged out and won't be going on there again.
It's a crying shame this country has come to this.
I Live in Lewisham (close to the centre) and was in Lee high road in the car when it was trashed, these so called poverty stricken teenagers were all well dressed in their designer tracksuits/£100+ trainers and destroying/looting just about anything they could get their hands on and also dragged a couple out of their car and stole it.

This has nothing to do with poverty or the fella that got shot it's just wanton violence and theft
and people should be able to protect their property, family, and community

I dare say there might have been some things said that shouldn't have been and maybe it would have been better if the pub hadn't been involved but at the end of it all no one else was doing anything about it were they?
I had to have our children and grandchildren stay with us as they live on Lee high road and the scum smashed all the shops and garage near their home and I don't want to see them kids crying and the terrified looks again
These gangs have to be stopped and the police and Government are hopeless and do nothing if nothing is done we will all be the losers.
