02.00: Bromley town centre has now quietened down and cordens have been removed. The police are continuing with foot patrols in the area.

A police officer said he is getting reports of possible incidents occuring in Penge and Orpington.

00.45 Looting is taking place in Bromley. We spoke to a girl who got caught up the melee.

She said: "We got chased for no reason just because we were walking through and they chased us from outside TK Maxx to round by the civic centre.

“Everyone was running and we just wanted to see what was going on.

“I saw a blond boy take an Xbox from round the back of Argos, he got a TV and something stupid, something little.

“People say they are going to smash up Primark and burn it down.

“Everyone is coming up here, the later it gets the more people will come back. I just want to watch. I'm not stupid enough to go in, I'm banned from Primark.”

23.30: Bromley High Street is closed with 16 bus routes on diversion, following rioting in Market Square.

Richer Sounds in East Street has also had its windows smashed.

There have been unconfirmed reports on Twitter that fires have broken out at Primark and Topshop.

Bromley South train station has also been closed.

A riot police officer told News Shopper that there had been "sporadic incidents featuring small groups" throughout the town centre.

No fires at all in Bromley. Looting in the high street but now cordoned off. Smashed windows in all the side streets. Lots of groups of 6-10 men AND women moving round excitedly looking for an opportunity for trouble. LOADS of cars ALL full of 3-4 men driving round looking to see what's happening. Almost everyone WHITE and in their 20's with hoodies/baseball caps.

When we was younger parents could disipline us.
As a parent of 3 teens (whom stay in doors) the things I can and cant do has changed big time. If i was to punish my kids the way I was punished i'd be in court for child abuse.
We 'Parents' havent got soft. Our ability to punish our kids has been taken from us.

Carphone Warehouse in Orpington is inside....that picture has been taken from outside. On twitter the same pic has been used for HMV Bromley, HMV Orpington, and now apparently Carephone Warehouse Orpington. THe social media sites are causing more panic then nesiccary. No one has confirmed (nor denied) rumours, however it was serious, with fires and everything, it would have been mentioned at least briefly, on the news.

Bromley is fine, there's been police blocking all roads for quite a while now, not heard any riots there so far.. And for Orpington a mate that lives near the Nugents centre says that they have police there too so nothing else will happen there, not sure what has happened there before they got there tho... But both places should be locked down pretty well

2 police vans were at the Nugent whilst it was going on. I don't blame them for not getting involved - looked what happened to poor PC Blakelock. The people completely ransacked Game (men and little kids jumped out the vans) and even had the liberty to use the Game carrier bags to put the goods in! They could not get past the security gate at Currys but smashed the windows.
@thecableguy - I fully agree but then some people would not discipline their children even if the laws changed to allow it. Too many human rights going on nowadays, has caused all this calamity and mayhem....

well said shazza678. This is the result of years of left wing dumming down of education, discpline, the break up of family life and a concerted effort to erase Christianity and morality.
We now have a feral generation fed on pizza and larger brainwashed by 'non judgemental teaching with the mantra of 'no consequences or resposibility for their actions, while droning on about 'equality and diversity, feeding the notion of self pity for not having the latest trainners...'Its all the bankers fault' they bleat' as they lay in bed until midday, go and spend some their benefit, or go out and nick something.
I'm afraid the chickens have come home to roost.

OK I walked home up the High St last night through the middle of this "Riot"

The rioters were mainly smaller gangs of kids, some looked 15 years old, the oldest ones I saw were early 20's

They weren't all from ethnic minorities so you couldn't really call it a race riot

There were a lot of uniformed police kettling them down towards Bromley South and a large group in Riot gear positioned out of sight by Churchill Theater gardens, to be fair to the police they seemed to be doing a reasonable job containing the situation

A lot of these kids were just here to rob, that was obvious, many however looked vexed like they had been brewing some anger for years and it was now all exploding

I call these kids the ASBO generation, I have seen them being bullied and harassed from the age of 10 upwards for skateboarding, riding bikes in the park and merely congregating in public places, they have grown up being treated like scum simply for being kids by both the police and the public

This is the result of unintelligent policing policies that focus on criminalizing easy targets like kids or married people who argue (you must have hear the Met's radio ads, grass on your neighbor when you hear them having a domestic, we'll make it stop) Lazy target reaching policing because real criminals are much harder to catch and convict

The dumb policies of the Met and their "positive arrest policies" for certain PC "crimes" is blowing up in their faces, they have alienated large segments of society who are otherwise law abiding and now that anger is being thrown back at them

Stop providing these mindless morons excuses to intimidate, smash, burn and loot:

I have lived in Bromley all my life and also grown up here: Youths in Bromley only get hassled because they deserve it: If you don't cause trouble, you're left alone. End of.

They are doing it because they can: literally monkey-see, monkey-do.

I'll be very surprised if they are disadvantaged beyond having to save a few weeks for an X-Box, and I'll bet you that outside Tottenham not one of them could tell you Mark Duggan's name.

By talking of soft target policing, left-wing nannying and parents with no empowerment, you provide a platform for their actions - I truly believe that in this instance, these lazy cliches are used as a convenient justification for what is only mindless anarchy.

In Bromley, it is certainly not the blossoming of a generation expressing their disaffected youth...

A far greater reason for them doing it is a free flat screen TV or some Nike trainers.

Disgusting all of this and now in Bromley.
Time for action on these mindless idiots, saw interview of one masked rioter this morning on TV who said its because they are angry and unhappy with the government - wake up guys this is not the way to get your voice heard and expect reasonable action. Stop all this now and come to the table and talk - voilence, crime does not get you anywhere.
It's time to suspend Twitter, Face Book, Blackberry messenger and for these networks to work with the police and offer up the details of anyone sending messages that are intent on these riots.
You mindless Zombies get out of our town now and don't think of coming to Bromley, the town folks won't stand for your loutish behaviour!

Send in armed officers/army and shoot on sight. If you see someone holding a petrol bomb or brick, shoot them! Once a few were killed, the rest would be scared. It's instant justice that costs the country less as you don't need a trial or a prison space. Clearly these people deserve to die to that's would should happen.

Lets stop **** footing around in this country with human rights and all that rubbish. These scum lose their human rights the minute they pick up a brick or a petrol bomb or smash in a shop window.

What an absolute crock.

The attitudes of do-gooders like this have permeated society to such an extent that we almost believe it to be true.

However, the truth is that the neanderthals we see on the street today are the result of not knowing right from wrong and always being led to believe they can do no wrong and it's everybody else's fault.

Just the same as you are doing now.

Quote - "Looting is taking place in Bromley.

She just "wanted to watch". Watch what? Idiots going into a shop she is banned from? She probably gave them a bl**dy shopping list too!

Yep + another vote for shooting and include the brainless parents too. I'm sick of paying for low life like them.

That was the funniest part , she thinks that just because she is banned from a shop she cant loot it , not very clever in Bromley are they.

I was born in Bromley and i still live here and at no point in my life have i ever wanted to go and rob a shop for any reason.

Years ago i was stopped by the Police while on my way home one night and questioned by them , it seemed that there had been a robbery in the local area and i somehow fitted the description of one of the crooks, after being questioned and proving to them i wasnt involved they let me go.

Did i start a riot because of this?......nope , i walked home and went to bed.

The Police are there for a reason and if they decide to give you kids who are looting a good kick up the **** then you deserve all you get , if you dont rob shops then you wont get arrested or battered by the Police , its not hard to understand.

And also if you want something from a shop , go and buy it like the rest of us have to , this country doesnt owe you a thing.

"Shooting is to good and quick, hang them from the nearst lamp post !”

However, despite the actions of these feral scum, we live in a civilised country - and it is unlikely many will receive custodial sentences (prisons already full) so perhaps a fine (as many are on benefit we end up paying)!

Perhaps they should be dressed in pink overalls, given a brush & told to clear up the mess

It's not just youths from "deprived" backgrounds:-

Laura Johnson, 19, was charged with five counts of burglary in connection with the theft of goods from stores in south London during unrest on the capital's streets.

The former grammar school pupil achieved four A*s and nine As at GCSE and is the daughter of a successful businessman who owns a large detached farmhouse in Orpington, south east London, according to reports.
