FOUR bakery workers climbed Britain's three highest mountains to raise money for Harris HospisCare.

Martin Abel, Bill Fletcher, Rhys Roberts and Martin Hunt, who work together at Allied Bakeries in Cray Avenue, Orpington, took on the Three Peaks Challenge.

They trekked a total of 1,300 miles up Scotland’s Ben Nevis, England’s Scafell Pike and Wales’ Snowdon in just four days for the hospice, which cares for Bromley people with terminal illnesses.

Sales operations co-ordinator Mr Roberts, 36, said: “This challenge was a fantastic experience for all of us, even though it was really tough at times, both physically and mentally.

“On a couple of occasions we weren't sure we would be able to finish, but we kept each other going with encouragement and thoughts of the money we were raising.”
