AN ASPIRING actress from Beckenham has been chosen to take part in a prestigious drama course this summer.

Amber Napthine, 16, is one of 60 young people who was selected for the National Youth Film Academy’s (NYFA) first ever summer course from more than 3,000 applicants.

The 10-day course for 16 to 25-year-olds will, this month, see students learning from professionals and making their own films.

These films will be shown to industry insiders at the BFI Southbank cinema in London on August 26, giving Amber and others on the couse the chance to showcase their talents.

Amber, who plans to study drama at Langley Park School For Boys sixth form, says she hopes the course will “open doors” to an acting career.

She said: “I have only been doing amateur dramatics at Beckenham Theatre Centre and at school, so this course is really exciting.”
