TWO men have been locked up for a total of 16 years following a violent robbery in Beckenham.

Shaun Salmon, aged 24, and Lewis Lawrence, aged 20, repeatedly stabbed a 32-year-old man after they tried to rob him in Beckenham High Street on December 10 last year.

They chased him through a car park, stabbing him in the back before running off with the victim’s bag, which contained cash and a mobile phone.

The victim, whose injuries were initially thought to be life-threatening, spent two days in hospital where he was treated for stab wounds to his shoulders, stomach, back and leg.

Salmon, of Perth Road, Beckenham, was found guilty of GBH, robbery and possession of an offensive weapon at Croydon Crown Court and jailed for 10 years.

Lewis, of Crampton Road, Penge, who admitted the same offences, was jailed for six years.

DC Dan Davies, from Bromley police’s robbery squad, said: “The significant prison sentences handed down in this case reflects the seriousness of this offence and Bromley is a safer place with Salmon and Lawrence behind bars.

“I hope that these sentences send out a clear message to those who commit robberies in Bromley - you will be pursued rigorously and placed before the courts.”
