YOUNG musicians from Dartford who raised £3,000 for the Red Cross’ Japan Appeal have presented a cheque to the charity.

Jack Thomas, 17, Kwayedza Kureya, 16, and Michelle Marquis, 17 staged a concert at Dartford’s Mick Jagger Centre to raise the funds.

The money will go towards helping the victims of the Japanese earthquake and tsunami.

Since the disaster in February, the Japanese Red Cross has been providing people in need with first aid and emergency healthcare.

It has also been distributing relief items.

A spokesman for the charity said: “The money raised by the students shows the compassion and dedication to do something to make a difference, something the British Red Cross aims to support both overseas and also here in the UK.

“The efforts of the students involved were amazing, and we can't thank them enough for their valuable contribution.”
