Hundreds of smiley faces young and old proved that Gray’s Farm primary school’s fun day was exactly that, fun. And there was a lot to smile about.

Whether you were trying to beat the goalie, smash the crockery or looking to find the bottle of wine there was something for everyone.

To add to the fun a team from the Bromley Valley gymnastics centre demonstrated their skill and athletic prowess which the watching crowd warmly applauded.

And the weather behaved itself for a change allowing visitors and stallholders alike to enjoy the summer sun, despite the odd grey cloud that skated overhead.

The day was rounded off with whoops of joy as some people realised that their grand draw ticket had won them one of the many wonderful prizes on offer. These ranged from an all expenses paid meal for two, to a Wii console. Many local businesses and individuals donated prizes and provided help in other ways which all contributed to a very successful event.

But the day would not have been possible without the organisational abilities and hard work of the school’s parent teacher association. Their efforts proved beyond doubt that when people pull together success can be achieved.

The monies raised from the fun day will be ploughed back into the school to benefit the children who attend Gray’s Farm primary.
