PLANS to Reduce the size of a DIY store in Belvedere to make room for a new supermarket have been unveiled.

B&Q and Asda are mounting a joint proposal which would see the B&Q store in Station Road, Belvedere, halved in size, to make way for a separate Asda supermarket.

The two stores would be housed in separate units on the current B&Q site.

One will be occupied by the DIY giant and contain a mezzanine floor, with no reductions in staff or the number of products available.

Asda will occupy the other unit , which will carry the supermarket’s full range, plus a cafe and provide up to 300 new jobs.

An exhibition of the plans will be on show in Belvedere and Erith Congregational Church hall in Picardy Road, Belvedere, on July 14 and 15.

The exhibition will run from 10am until 6pm on July 14 and from 2pm to 6pm on July 15.

Project team members will be there to answer questions and there will be feedback cards for people to leave their comments.
