POPCORN and pop-up buildings are at the heart of a public consultation about a £90m development.

An information centre is to be winched into place outside The Churchill theatre in Bromley High Street to show people the proposals to regenerate the Westmoreland Road car park site.

From Friday (July 8) when the consultation begins people will be able to step inside and see the Cathedral Group’s plan which includes demolishing the car park and replacing it with a cinema, restaurants, a hotel, apartments and 400 parking spaces.

Cathedral Group representatives will be on hand at the centre to answer questions during the consultation which runs until July 15.

The developer’s chief executive Richard Upton people urges people to get involved: “This site is key to the continuing success of the town centre economy.

“We have approached this project with determination and vision, and we very much look forward to meeting with local residents to hear what they think.”

And at the car park site itself the developer is running a pop-up cinema from this Thursday to Sunday (July 7 to 10) .

The upper floors of the car park will be transformed with a full size cinema screen and each guest will be given their own wireless, personal headset.

Popcorn, deckchairs, bean bags, beer and gourmet hot dogs will be the order of the day.
