A PUBLIC inquiry will be held into an application to turn the Grade II listed Clarendon Hotel into 21 luxury flats.

The Planning Inspectorate will hold the inquiry to hear appeals by Longthorn Properties Ltd and Affinity Homes Group, regarding the application to Gravesham Council.

Plans are to convert the hotel into one and two-bedroom flats and create 21 parking spaces in Clarendon Gardens.

A separate affordable housing development by Affinity would also be built next to the hotel, creating 30 more flats and parking spaces.

Gravesend Historical Society has raised concerns about protecting the 340-year-old building's heritage.

The inquiry takes place at The Riverside Family Centre, Dickens Road, Gravesend, at 10am on November 1.
