COUNTERFEIT clothes and shoes worth around £3,500 have been seized from a car boot sale.

Bromley Trading Standards and Bromley police officers swooped on the stall run by an Essex man at Flamingo Park in Chislehurst on Sunday (June 5).

They seized more than 300 items from the seller, including fake Adidas, Fred Perry and Ralph Lauren tops as well as UGG slippers.

Rob Vale, head of Bromley Trading Standards, said: "Had these items been the genuine articles they would have represented over £20,000 worth of stock.

“We had good information there were sellers attending this boot sale who were trading in the informal economy and we worked closely with the police to ensure the operation was a success."
