IT was fire station against prison, gym staff against a 40th birthday party; it was a fundraiser, but not as we know it.
The fun was fast and furious as 12 teams from all walks of life were prepared to make fools of themselves in front of hundreds of people as they competed in an It’s A Knockout competition.
The free event, staged on Bostall Heath at the weekend was to raise cash for Greenwich and Bexley Cottage Hospice, which organised the event and also fielded its own team.
With a barbecue and bar to keep spectators happy and sponsorship money still coming in, it is hoped the event will raise £10,000 towards the hospice’s running costs.
A team from Woolwich fire station called the Flaming E-jits finally emerged victorious and were crowned the It’s A Knockout champions.
