POLICE are appealing for witnesses following a serious assault that took place in a Sydenham shop.

Officers were called to Inglemere Road at around 8.26pm on May 31, following reports of a disturbance inside a shop.

When they arrived at the scene they found a 28-year-old man and 32-year-old man suffering from significant injuries to their head and face.

Five young males aged between 14 and 17 years old were arrested and have been bailed pending further enquires.

Lewisham CID are investigating and pursuing a number of lines of enquiry.

Investigating officer Detective Constable Claire Rutherford said:"We would like to hear from anyone who was at the shop, or in the vicinity at the time of the assault or before the assault occurred who may be able to help us with our enquires.”
