A STORAGE shed was completely destroyed in Penge last night as a blaze tore through the contents.

The building in Crampton Road was well alight by the time Beckenham and Forest Hill firefighters arrived at around 10.50pm yesterday (June 1).

Crews wore breathing apparatus in case they had to go into the shed which contained metal casings, paper and plastics.

But they managed to fight the fierce flames from the outside of the building and stopped it from spreading to two other properties nearby.

It took the firefighters around two hours to deal with the incident.

A fire investigation team is now looking into the cause of the blaze.

The premises was not in use and had belonged to an old plastic injection moulding company.
