MISINFORMATION led to Dartford firefighters being sent to a lorry fire on the M25 this morning (June 2).

A crew from the station was called out to the incident which was said to be between the junctions for Orpington and Sevenoaks (junctions four and five) at around 4.30am.

But when they got there they found there was no vehicle on fire.

Checks with the London Fire Brigade control centre revealed the flaming lorry was around 50 miles away between junctions 24 and 25 for Potters Bar and Enfield in north London.

Because of the distance the firefighters did not attend the incident and returned to their station.
