A BOGUS nurse has been sentenced to two years in prison after posing as his brother.

Oluwarotimi Makinde was sentenced, with one year on licence, for obtaining a money transfer by deception.

Makinde, of Longhill Road, Catford, worked in the nurse bank at Oxleas NHS Trust for three years before he tried to apply for a permanent position.

The trust's counter fraud specialists investigated and found Makinde's brother had applied for and got the job and Makinde used his identity.

The fraud is thought to be worth up to £54,000 in wages falsely obtained.

The investigation also revealed the passport used to secure the post was issued fraudulently, and this was part of a wider investigation by the police and UK passport agency.

Makinde was arrested in June and charged with 24 counts of deception. He admitted these at Woolwich Magistrates' Court on June 8.

The 25-year-old was sentenced at Woolwich Crown Court on August 25.
