AS a way of getting one over on your rivals, this takes a lot of beating.
Millwall fans on the House of Fun website have admitted they were behind a stunt which saw a plane fly over Wigan’s ground at the weekend as the Lions’ arch rivals West Ham were consigned to relegation.
The chartered aircraft carried a banner saying: “Avram Grant - Millwall Legend”.
Around 40 fans on the website had chipped in to raise £650 for the stunt which took place at 5.30pm, just as the Hammers’ threw away a 2-0 lead in their must win match.
A spokesman for the website said: “It was the best £15 I ever spent - that’s the opinion of everybody.
“From what people have said, it seems on a par if not slightly better than getting promoted last year.
“Everyone who’s into Millwall is grinning like a Cheshire cat.”
