TWO people accused of failing to seek veterinary treatment for a tortoise are set to stand trial.
Julie Kimber, aged 40, of Church Road, Hartley and 33-year-old Matthew Kimber of Wested Lane, Swanley appeared at Dartford Magistrates’ Court on May 9 charged with causing unnecessary suffering to a protected animal.
They both deny failing to seek treatment for a Sulcata tortoise’s collapsed penis in Swanscombe between February and June last year.
The tortoise was brought to the court’s attention by the RSPCA. The pair face a trial at the same court on November 16.
