NORTH Kent’s Cyclopark is charging ahead of its schedule to be completed before the 2012 Olympics, Kent County Council says.

Once completed, the sports facility, located south of Gravesend by the A2, will be the largest cycling venue in Europe.

And this aerial photograph, released by KCC, shows the 2.9km track’s outline beginning to take shape.

KCC cabinet member for environment, highways and waste, Bryan Sweetland said: “Work started on the site in January and we are extremely pleased with the progress to date.

“When it opens next year ahead of the Olympics, Cyclopark will be a real asset for local cyclists and many from outside the county as well, helping bring in visitors and money to the area.”
