A DIABETIC child’s mother hopes her charity run will raise awareness of her son’s condition.
Kelly Woods’s six-year-old son Charlie has had type one diabetes since he was two-and-a-half years old and has to have six injections of insulin every day.
Mrs Woods, of Churchfields Road, Beckenham, says this has affected the lives of everyone in their family so she is running the London Bupa 10km run on May 31 to raise money for the Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation to make people aware of childhood diabetes.
As well as raising awareness she wants her sponsorship money to go towards research into stopping the autoimmune disease.
The 40-year-old said: “Nobody in our family has type one diabetes so it was awful and I did not know anything about it.
“When I run I will try to do my best and raise as much awareness as possible.”
