FIREFIGHTERS from across the News Shopper area have been battling a forest fire near Ascot overnight.
Plumstead, Erith, Bexley, Orpington and Biggin Hill have been working with around 150 other firefighters from Berkshire, Surrey, Oxfordshire, Hampshire and London at the scene in Swinley Forest.
Crews have been there on a rotating basis since last Saturday (April 30) when the first fire started.
This was brought under control but on Monday two more fires broke out.
The fires are spread over an area of about two square kilometres.
