CELEBRATIONS were taking place across the Bromley borough, with some schools recording their best-ever GCSE results.

Official results tables will not be available until the autumn but early indications suggest the pass rate has risen across Bromley.

Babington House, Grange Drive, Chislehurst, achieved a 100 per cent pass rate at grades A* to C with 51 per cent of those at A* and A.

Headteacher Deborah Odysseas- Bailey said: "Every year the girls do incredibly well and it is not because of luck, but rather the exceptional effort of both pupils and staff."

Ravensbourne School, Hayes Lane, Bromley, has achieved its best-ever results with a 78 per cent pass rate at grades A* to C.

Headteacher Paul Murphy said: "The results are absolutely brilliant and we are all delighted.

"They are a testament to the staff, students and parents who have all worked together to produce them."

Hayes School pupils have achieved a GCSE pass rate of more than 80 per cent for the first time in the school's history.

The 82.5 per cent pass rate at grades A* to C has been commended by its headteacher Kieran Osborne.

Mr Osborne said: "The students deserve the highest praise and recognition for their achievements.

"The results are a great testimony to the students' efforts, the parents' support and the commitment and quality of the teachers at the school."

The top pupil at the school was Michael Fox, who got 10 A*s and 2 As.

Bromley High achieved a 99.36 per cent pass rate at grades A* to C with 70.57 per cent of those at A* and A.

Headteacher Lorna Duggleby said: "We are pleased with all the girls who worked so hard to get their grades.

"These pleasing results are attributed to the excellent teaching and learning at the school."

Joanne Robertson was the school's top pupil with 13 A*s.
