A 20-YEAR-OLD man who subjected a woman to a horrific sexual attack he filmed on his mobile phone has been jailed for eight years.
Over the course of July 9 and July 11 last year, Nariah Wagnall, of Lewisham, first beat his victim with a belt over her face and body before sexually assaulting and raping her.
Wagnall was sentenced at Croydon Crown Court yesterday (May 3) to two years for actual bodily harm, and eight years for assault by penetration and rape, to run concurrently.
He had pleaded guilty to the charges.
Crown Prosecution Service reviewing lawyer Linda Edema-Sillo said: “Wagnall subjected this victim to merciless beatings before forcing her into degrading sexual acts, raping her and recording part of the assault on his mobile phone.
“Whatever she said or did, she was not consenting, having been beaten by this man.
“This was a very sensitive case and deeply affected all of those involved in the prosecution and investigation.
“We would like to pay tribute to the courage of the victim in coming forward and hope she can take some comfort from this individual being brought to justice.”
