A WELDER has been found guilty of voyeurism after recording images of two naked young women.

Dartford Magistrates' Court heard how Gordon William Bracey secretly filmed the two daughters of his then partner over an 11-and-a-half month period.

Bracey positioned a video camera under his bed and filmed the 19-year-old and 21-year-old women walking between the bedroom and bathroom dressed only in towels, in their underwear or naked.

The 43-year-old, of Woodfield Avenue, Gravesend, bought the video camera to record an upcoming holiday and left it under his bed to charge.

He claimed the first time he caught one of girls on film was accidental.

When he viewed the tape he realised what had been recorded.

The court heard Bracey, who pleaded not guilty to seven charges of voyeurism, decided to keep secretly filming the pair by pointing the camera at the landing.

Stills were taken from the recordings and saved on a computer in a password protected file.

Prosecutor Piers Restell said Bracey collected images of the girls intermittently between August 9, 2004, and July 25 last year.

In August last year the son of his then partner was playing on the computer with a friend when he discovered naked pictures of his sisters.

The court heard a statement from Bracey's former partner who said he had claimed the images were taken accidentally, then got in his car and drove off.

Her 21-year-old daughter, who lives with her fiance, arrived at the home at the same time.

In her statement read out in court she said she was devastated and hurt when she viewed the naked pictures of herself and her sister on the computer.

She then found and viewed 10 floppy discs before taking them to police along with the video camera.

A police forensic computer expert examined the computer and found 55 images in the password protected file saved between March and July last year.

Bracey was arrested on December 11 last year.

He claimed the images and recordings were taken as revenge after an incident involving his daughter and his then partner's son.

Bracey denied recording the women for sexual gratification.

He said: "I am sorry for the girls."

Magistrates found Bracey guilty of six voyeurism charges of recording a private act and one voyeurism charge of installing equipment.

Pre-sentence reports are being prepared and Bracey will appear again on September 19 for sentencing or to be committed to crown court for sentencing.
