News Shopper: The historic Spitfire Steam Train

The weekend will feature live music, local fare and street performers, as well as a large display of vintage buses on Saturday (May 21), and classic cars and motorcycles on Sunday (May 22).

On Sunday, visitors can travel to the event in style aboard the magnificent Spitfire Steam Train which departs from London Victoria at 9.50am and arrives in Faversham in Kent at around 1.30pm.

The train, made up of historic carriages from the 1950s and 1960s, will carry a real ale bar serving a range of Shepherd Neame beers, soft drinks and snacks.

Passengers can spend the afternoon admiring sleek sports cars, glitzy American motors and old British classics in the historic market town, while enjoying the festival-like atmosphere.

Shepherd Neame, Britain’s oldest brewer, will run guided tours taking visitors through the heart of the brewery and showing the whole brewing process from hop to hand pump. A traditional three-course Sunday lunch will be served in the 15th century function room which is likely to be extremely popular meaning advance booking is essential.
