HALF a ton of paper went up in flames in Forest Hill last night in a fire which could have destroyed several parked vehicles.

Firefighters were called to Castle Court in Champion Road to tackle the blaze which had spread to a van in the car park by the block of flats.

The paper which was next to the van was completely destroyed in the fire but the crew from Forest Hill managed to put out the van and stop the flames from spreading to the other vehicles in the car park.

After being called at around 9.30pm yesterday (April 27) they were at the scene for around two hours.

Police are investigating the cause of the incident.
