A COMMUNITY group is looking for relatives of a man who died in a 1944 rocket attack.
Reginald Groves, of 5 Lockmead Road, Lewisham, died when a V2 rocket fell on the Crooked Billet pub in Southborough Lane, Bickley, in November that year.
The stoker on HMS Daffodil, who lived his civilian life as a butcher, was among 27 people killed in the worst Second World War attack in Bromley’s history.
Following a campaign, the Friends of Jubilee Country Park will be joined by Beckenham MP Bob Stewart and relatives of those who died on May 21 at 11am outside the rebuilt pub to unveil a memorial plaque.
But despite their efforts, the Friends group has been unable to trace Mr Groves’ family and invite them to the ceremony.
If you can help, call Jennie Randall on 07840 542 261.
