Police release YouTube video in Samuel Guidera murder investigation
10:22am Wednesday 30th March 2011 in News By Michael Purton
POLICE have released a video showing footage of people who may have vital information about the murder of university student Samuel Guidera.
The video shows CCTV footage of 32 people getting off a train at Penge East, walking out of the station and along a row of shops at just after 9.40pm on February 12.
This was the route 24-year-old Mr Guidera took before reaching the bus stop in Newlands Park, Sydenham, where he was fatally stabbed at around 9.50pm.
Still images of five of the people Met Police detectives particularly want to speak to have also been released, and they are urging anyone who recognises themselves in the video or pictures to come forward.
Detective Chief Inspector Laurence Smith added: "You may think you don't have any useful information for us, but we are trying to piece together what happened to Samuel and you may hold important information that could help our investigation.”
Mr Guidera was found collapsed in the road in Newlands Park at 9.54pm after suffering a single stab wound to the heart, and died in hospital an hour later.
He was carrying a pink T-mobile carrier bag when he got off the train and stopped at a convenience store before walking towards the bus stop. His wallet was taken during the attack.
Mr Guidera, who lived in Avenue Road, Penge, was studying history and politics at University of Greenwich and hoped to become a secondary school teacher.
