POLICE are appealing for witnesses after a 16-year-old was injured in a fight on a train last night (Mar 28).

British Transport Police were called to Westcombe Park rail station after receiving a report of an injured teenager onboard the 8.47pm Cannon Street to Dartford service.

Metropolitan Police officers and paramedics also attended the incident, which was reported to police at 9.06pm.

It is believed the Deptford teenager was injured following an altercation with a group of four youths onboard the service.

The group are believed to have fled the station prior to police arrival.

There are unconfirmed reports that someone on the train was wielding a large kitchen knife.

Detective Sergeant Shazia Moran said: “We’re making a number of enquiries to establish the full circumstances, including what took place before, during and after the disturbance.

“We’ll also be speaking with a number of witnesses to try and determine what happened.

“At this stage no further injuries have been reported to police, although we appeal to anyone who was onboard the service to contact us.”

No arrests have been made in connection with the incident so far.
