A TEACHER from Orpington who is caught up in the devastation of Japan’s earthquake and tsunami is helping out with the relief effort.
Adam Pearson, 30, has advertised his home in Noda, near Kuji in north east Japan, as a shelter for those who need it.
And has been taking food and clothes and other supplies to the school where he teaches, which has been turned into a shelter and a headquarters for the Japanese army relief unit stationed in the village.
The former St Olave’s pupil said: “Life has yet to return to normal even for those whose homes and businesses are intact.
“[But] the Japanese spirit of cheerful resilience and generosity has been very noticeable in the last few days.”
