RAVENS Wood’s Year 11 and Year 9 football teams have both sealed places in their respective Kent Cup finals.

Sonny Hawes and Josh Thomas were both on target as the Year 11 side edged out Fulston Manor in the semi-final.

This is the second Kent Cup final this team have reached in their five years at Ravens Wood, as the boys achieved an identical success in 2007 when they were Year 7 students.

A man-of-the-match display from Troy Russell and goals from Reis Franklyn, Harry Jaikubait and Greg Cundle secured a 3-1 semi success for the Year 9 team against Beths Grammar.

It is an exciting time to be a member of Year 9 squad.

Although the team’s focus currently remains on the imminent Kent Cup final, the boys are set travel to Dallas next month for an international tournament involving teams from all over the world.

Captain Aiden Hayes said: “This is the result of three years of commitment to the school football programme and the collective enthusiasm and motivation of the squad.”

Head of PE and coach Mr Clift added: “Every member of both the Year 9 and Year 11 squads has each made very important contributions and should be proud of their achievements.”
