AN ELTHAM College student has added to his growing reputation on the hockey field by breaking a goal-scoring record.

Chris Harden has been playing for Eltham College’s first team for three years and scored his 100th goal against Bancroft’s in February to earn a place in the school’s sporting hall of fame.

Harden found the target five times in that game before going on to score two more against Borden, five in the match with Reigate, three against Cranbrook and four against King’s Canterbury.

He has already hit the back of the net more than 60 times this season and his final tally once the campaign ends is guaranteed to be a school record.

Hockey is one of the core sports played at Eltham College.

The school’s first XI have had another excellent season so far, winning all bar two of their games, both against Kent College, which included an unlucky last minute exit in the recent Kent Cup semi-final.

However, the U16s went one better, defeating Tonbridge in the Kent semi-final but losing to Langley Park in the final.

Nevertheless the U16s still qualify for the U16s for the regional championships for the second time in three years.

With the junior teams also performing well, the future of hockey at Eltham College is bright.
