A FATHER whose daughter lost three of her limbs after contracting Meningitis is trying to raise money for The Meningitis Trust.

Manuel Chowdhury and his band Urban Prophecies will be performing at Lewisham’s Fox and Firkin pub in Lewisham High Street on May 22.

The gig will run from 6pm to 11pm with all proceeds from the night going to The Meningitis Trust.

One-year-old Alissa-Taylor caught became ill on April 9 last year, shortly before her first birthday. She was hospitalised and a coma had to be induced to keep her condition stable.

After blood flow to the toddler’s feet and right hand became restricted, doctors decided to amputate her legs from the knees down and part of her right hand.

Mr Chowdhury from Stevens Close, Beckenham said: “The support that we received during that time was just fantastic and it is great to be able to do something to give back.

"Alissa-Taylor is just such a happy kid now and for a while it was touch and go. It was the support we received at the time that got us through."
