AS petrol prices continue to rise thanks to unrest in the Middle East, one Bexley pensioner has no worries about filling up.

Michael Swatton, 68, a keen competition fan, has just won a prize every motorist would envy - free petrol for a year.

He entered the competition, run by Jemca Toyota in Sidcup, with help from his partner Beryl Belinger and was thrilled when he received a call from Jemca's marketing manager Paul Baylis, to say he had won.

Mr Swatton's went to the Jemca showroom in Edgington Way to collect his prize, in the form of a cheque for £1,850.

Mr Swatton said: "I have got relatives in Wales and my son and grandchildren live in the Midlands.

"We will be able to visit and take the grandchildren out and it won't cost me anything.

"We are also hoping to travel round the country a bit later in the year when the weather is better."

He added: "It was a marvellous prize to receive when petrol prices are getting so high.

"It is a wonderful filip."
