Foal Farm Animal Rescue Centre is a registered animal welfare charity located in Jail Lane in Biggin Hill.

The charity finds new homes for hundreds of lost and unwanted animals every year and has up to 200 animals waiting to be rehomed at any one time.

News Shopper: Foal Farm's Pet of the Week

News Shopper is proud to be supporting Foal Farm Animal Rescue Centre with the launch of Pet of the Week which will feature cats, dogs, rabbits, guinea pigs and other small animals in need of loving new homes.

Foal Farm Chief Executive, Kim Puttock, said: “We're delighted and very grateful that the News Shopper online is launching Pet of the Week to help us to find new homes for some of our animals.

"As a charity, we rely entirely on donations and like everyone else we are feeling the effects of the recession. We really need the support of local animal lovers to help us continue our work helping pets and pet owners across Kent and South London.”

Introducing Alfie

Our first Pet of the Week, is Alfie, a gorgeous white Staffordshire Bull Terrier, aged between one and two years old.

Alfie arrived at Foal Farm Animal Rescue Centre as a stray. Sadly his microchip details were out of date so his owners could not be traced.

Alfie is described by Foal Farm's Dog Team as 'a gorgeous dog, a real people pleaser, who likes to lick you under the chin'.

Alfie gets on with most other dogs, but ideally he'd like to share a home with a female dog.

The charity wouldn't recommend that Alfie is homed with cats or very young children, because as a stray not enough is known about his background. The charity takes a cautious and thorough approach when considering the needs of both animals and new owners.

If you are interested in offering Alfie a home or you would like to see the many other dogs, cats and small animals currently at Foal Farm Animal Rescue Centre, please visit foalfarm.org.uk or call 01959 572 386.

Of course, if you cannot offer a home to a pet, there are plenty of other ways you can help, such as sponsoring a resident animal, making a donation, organising a fundraising event or by volunteering your time.
