MORE help for people with lung problems is becoming available across north Kent.
NHS West Kent has launched rehabilitation sessions for people with chronic obstructive pulmonary disease, a condition that leads to damaged airways in the lungs.
The disease, which affects 3,510 people in Dartford and Gravesham, can cause breathlessness, persistent coughing and can make carrying out everyday activities difficult.
In 14 two-hour sessions over seven weeks, the rehab sessions will combine exercise with guidance on breathing control, stress management and nutrition.
The trust’s director of nursing, Julie Hunt said: “After the sessions, people should feel less breathless doing day-to-day activities such as walking up the stairs and getting dressed.”
Patients should check with their GP to see if they are eligible for the sessions.
