A WAYWARD crane has left homes without phones after it tore down a mile of lines in Orpington yesterday (March 14).
As it travelled down Repton Road on the back of a lorry at around 2pm it also destroyed low hanging tree branches.
Guttering was pulled off some houses were telephone cables were attached and there was minor damage to some vehicles in the street.
The lorry driver did not realise what was happening until he got to the bottom of the road and stopped his vehicle.
BT is aware and it is estimated it will take around 24 hours to fix the phone lines.
