A SUSHI restaurant had been closed down after its failure to deal with mice infestations and hygiene problems.
The owners of Itoshii Sushi in Nelson Road, Greenwich, have also been banned from running any food business for 12 months.
During four separate visits by environmental health officers, mouse droppings were found throughout the kitchen, on a cooker hob and even in a rice steamer.
Mould was on the walls of a chiller while work surfaces were filthy. There was no basin for staff to wash their hands.
Officers found bottles of soy sauce contaminated with dead flies and dirty food containers being used.
Woolwich Magistrates’ Court issued a fine of £2,800 and a £2,000 bill for Greenwich Council’s legal costs.
